I am taking an anatomy drawing class, first class I've taken in almost 5 years. First art class in over 8. I've been drawing continuously over the years, but have not done something formal in a while. It's so much fun!! Maybe I'll post some of the drawings here. I've only taken one class so far, and we drew some bones. I'll see what we do Tuesday, and scan in what I can...

New Specimens

I'm very proud of myself this week. I already finished my taxes, completed the FAFSA, and am now just waiting for an answer...well, 7 answers actually... You probably don't care about my grad school ranting, but it is literally one of the only things I've been thinking about these last couple of months!

I actually haven't drawn any new specimens in about 2 months. The ones I'm posting are old ones, well, over two months old. After I post this, I have a creature drawing session planned and many ideas! So stay tuned for new drawings!!

Clarification

I received a wonderful comment on one of my drawings (from my fellow blogger, drend) and it made me think about these creature a little more. I don't have more of the story, but I do have a better description of what I imagined these specimens to be.

These creatures are rather small, they fit in the palm of your hand. I always did imagine them as abandoned 'babies,' they're the young versions of grown creatures (as seen in many a video game or sci-fi movie), before they lost their innocence, before they became ...evil. They are either hatched from eggs and petrified or they are undeveloped/abandoned fetuses. There are a few specimens that are meant to be flora (and are rightfully named so). They grow where these creatures were found.

Well, I hope more to come soon.... I have to create a storyboard for one of my applications. Have been slacking off on that one. Well, not really, I've been thinking about it for months, but I 've just had horrible writer's block. I come up with plenty of ideas, but I just don't like any of them.

Here's specimen #28a (Eyelets)

I posted two others in the eyelets group previously. In case you didn't notice, eyelets are the specimens without eyes and either small or no arms and large heads. I tend to start theses specimen drawings with the eyes and go from there, with the head next, then body, then anything else. But these Eyelets in particular were different. I decided one day, hey, what if they had no eyes at all, and these are the result. Enjoy!!

I just submitted three portfolios, only two more to go! And I found out one of the schools will have a response BY April 1st.... very nervous...

Specimen #22

I've been having horrible writer's block. I'm more concerned about my portfolio and the grad school applications. I have a few paragraphs of the story and the whole idea planned, but I'm just not writing it.... I feel that it will finally be done in February when I've sent off the last application and portfolio and I'll be done with the FAFSA and all that. I studied writing, but I'm more concerned about other things now, so this story will have to wait. And I don't like the protagonist's name, I keep changing it instead of writing the story...excuses, excuses....

Here's the first part though.....

The Mysterious Ones

Mr. Thomas Brown was a collector. He collected many things- jewelry, coins, rocks and shells, old fingernails of dead aristocrats, etc… He was a bit of an oddball character, always alone. Always observing with his monocle things no one else would notice - a speck of dust in the wind.

Portfolios

So I officially submitted one complete grad school application, portfolio and all! Am very excited and nervous. Am about to mail another tomorrow....

Clumsy Me

So I had an accident and almost broke my hand and scraped up two of my knees really badly. Was limping for a while. At lease I'm alive. :/

Something a bit different:
