More creatures and portfolio

I revamped my online portfolio.

I asked one of my former college professors at Carnegie Mellon if she would write me a recommendation for graduate school. She was my 'Writing for Multimedia' professor, where I learned story boarding and flash as an alternate method of writing and story telling, which is basically what I want to go to grad school for. She said she would "love" to write me a recommendation and that she "loved the way [I] approached [my] work as well as [my] results" (yay!!). This of course made my month. :) But, she wants to look at more of my work, not just the Flash animations I made in her class. I decided, instead of clogging her inbox with .jpg after .jpg, I decided to update and improve my online portfolio to show her more of my artwork.

For now, here's another specimen:

Enjoy!

Another push for my Kickstarter Project and Etsy store.....

As the weeks go by, I'll be posting some stuff from my Grad School portfolio. For now, more fetal creatures found by Dr. Chesterfield.

I don't have the list of number specimens and titles. This post will be without them. but I will post more often.

Also, to be pushy ( :b ) I started a Kickstarter project and i put some original drawings in my Etsy store. Please take a look!

Thanks for reading!!

Been Busy

I've been busy lately. I'm applying to grad school. my greatest fear is not getting into any of the 10 schools I'm applying to, and losing all of that money that I will inevitable spend on application fees (they are on average $80 an application, so that's about $800 just to send them my name and address), not including portfolios and all that. But, hey, it's worth a try. Please wish me luck! I;m strating to big projects, the etsy store is mainly to pay for these application fees.

I've started a KickStarter project. I can't really make a video. I would like to just be able to show a bunch of drawings, but they don't let you, so I don't know if this will get funded. but it's worth a try.:

The Mysterious Ones

And I'm selling stuff on Etsy. More drawings/prints to come! If the book gets funded, I'll be selling that too!:

Now for something new....
Oh the details.......

Another Specimen

I don't have the list of Specimen numbers, as I am at work right now.... :) I'll post it later.

This one reminds me of a holy man, I suppose, with a halo.

Thanks for looking!

Specimen #48a (Aviary)

Here's another one that I didn't put in my portfolio, but it's part of the series.

Specimen #59

This is another one that's part of the series on my portfolio, but I didn't include in the portfolio, as it's not one of my favorites. This is 'Specimen #59.'

I realize I should have given the number to the one below as well: 'Specimen #55.' They aren't part of any group.

I'll eventually start posting the ideas of the story behind the specimens. But that's in the very first stages. I might make a separate website for just the specimens and story... We'll see.

Portfolio

Wow, so I haven't updated in a long time. I created a portfolio at Carbonmade. Feel free to look around!

The Mysterious Ones

I started creating a story instead of just sketching. We'll see where that goes. I'll start posting more again, now that I have access to a scanner again....

The above drawing isn't in the portfolio. It's probably my least favorite of the series, but it's part of the series nonetheless.

Thanks for looking!!

Mummy

So I haven't posted in a while due to the fact that I don't have a scanner and my job has been horribly horrible and I haven't been able to use the scanner. Because I haven't posted in such a long time, I'll post 2! I originally intended this to be Halloween thing, but I think the winter holidays are just as good a time as any.

I wanted to draw a mummy and this is what ca
me of it. A bandaged creature and then the same creature not band
aged. I drew the bandaged one first, was unsatisfied, and then drew the other one. As a team, I like them.

More color...

This drawing (color pencil on black paper) is much larger than this. It is unfinished, but I don't really feel like finishing it. Mainly because this didn't turn out the way I had originally planned (I wanted a dragon breathing blood not fire and this creature floating away from it). And because my original intention were all originally supposed to be in red and oragne, I drew the outlines of everything in red. And you can see them.
But various people seem to like it so I'm posting it.

Princess Mononoke

So I had this picture in my head for a while. Really just the horns and the mask. I didn't have an idea for the body so I just did what I usually do and made a sort of wormish body. After drawing this I realized what this reminded me of. Princess Mononoke. I've only seen the movie once years ago, and I was writing a paper or something and wasn't even paying attention. So, I don't know why suddenly I thought of this. I like the mask...

Post-it 2

I need to stop doing this at work...

I guess this is a sheepdogalien (manbearpig...ha!). Um....done with a blue ballpoint pen. I like the clouds.

Bored at Work

So I drew this on a post-it today at work. Little 20 mintute waste of time.

i originally wanted to draw something like this on large bristol paper. But my boring job kind of let me to draw this saooner, and I think it turned out better this way! :)

Scared of this....

...mainly because I'm getting to the good stuff! Or, better stuff/recent stuff anyway....

I guess this is a camera mask on a fat, worm person. First time I actually put lots of effort into thinking through and then shading. I just wanted to draw somethng more mechanical, as the gas pump thing didn't work put to my liking.

Most of the other scans are bigger on here than they are in real life. But this turned out the opposite. This is one of the biggest I've ever drawn. Which doesn't mean anything because he's still a bit smaller than a 1/4 of an 8x11 sheet of paper. But still, for me, this is big.

The details don't come out well on my crappy work scanner, but I have to use it.

Does he have a back story? No.

I don't do sci-fi stories. I just draw it...

keys

You know, I'm really just prolonging posting the actual drawings that I've made recently. I think I'll just post everything from the past until I run out and am forced to post 'real' work. It could also be the fear that someone might steal my work (NOT ALLOWED!) :). And then there's problems with that that I don't want to deal with.....

Anyway, this drawing is self explanatory. These are my old keys. Old keys, as in, from a few years ago, which means this drawing is a few years old. But, hey, I still drew it...

Enjoy!

On a tree

So, if you haven't noticed, I've only been posting old stuff. Well...not entirely becaseu I've posted some new stuff, and I'm sure you won't know! :/ Here's another older one.

My original intention was to have this guy in a tree. But, at the time I couldn't properly draw trees and I figured I'd paint this anyway, and that this was just an initial sketch. I never painted it and never drew that tree. So he's just alone and black and white.
