Specimen #22

I've been having horrible writer's block. I'm more concerned about my portfolio and the grad school applications. I have a few paragraphs of the story and the whole idea planned, but I'm just not writing it.... I feel that it will finally be done in February when I've sent off the last application and portfolio and I'll be done with the FAFSA and all that. I studied writing, but I'm more concerned about other things now, so this story will have to wait. And I don't like the protagonist's name, I keep changing it instead of writing the story...excuses, excuses....

Here's the first part though.....

The Mysterious Ones

Mr. Thomas Brown was a collector. He collected many things- jewelry, coins, rocks and shells, old fingernails of dead aristocrats, etc… He was a bit of an oddball character, always alone. Always observing with his monocle things no one else would notice - a speck of dust in the wind.

Sounds interesting. Keep the protagonist's name and see if it changes when you write more. I think the character will let you know ;) Meanwhile, hang in there. I get blocks all the time, and I am the QUEEN of excuses !! :)
